Kickin Kawasaki 5K in Dumas, Texas Brings Nearly 250 People Together to Raise Kawasaki Disease Awareness

The 2nd Annual Kickin Kawasaki 5K in Dumas, Texas brought together nearly 250 participants for an unforgettable morning dedicated to raising Kawasaki Disease awareness, supporting families, and building a stronger community.

Hosted by the Kawasaki Kids Foundation, this annual fun run continues to grow each year, bringing together Kawasaki Disease survivors, families, community members, sponsors, and volunteers who all share one common goal: ensuring that no child or family faces Kawasaki Disease alone.

A Community United for Kawasaki Disease Awareness

The Kickin' Kawasaki 5K is more than just a race. It is an opportunity to educate communities about Kawasaki Disease, the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children. Every registration, sponsorship, and conversation helps spread awareness of a disease that affects thousands of children and requires early diagnosis and treatment.

Seeing so many Kawasaki Kids and their families together in one place was one of the highlights of the day. For many families, meeting others who have experienced Kawasaki Disease provides hope, encouragement, and lifelong friendships.

When families realize they are not alone in their journey, healing extends far beyond the hospital.

Nearly 250 Participants Made a Difference

From competitive runners to families pushing strollers and children crossing the finish line with huge smiles, nearly 250 participants came together to support the mission of the Kawasaki Kids Foundation.

Every step taken during the Kickin Kawasaki 5K represented something greater than a finish line. It represented awareness, education, compassion, and hope for children diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease.

Events like these help us continue providing:

  • Family support programs

  • Kawasaki Disease education

  • Community awareness initiatives

  • Resources for newly diagnosed families

  • Programs that connect Kawasaki Disease families across the country
